Where did NCRC and ARC come from?

Founded in 2001, the Northern California Racing Club started as a place where street car drivers could share track time in a safe and fun way. Soon thereafter, we created the American Racing Club to meet the needs of those racers looking for a multi-marque gentleman's racing format. With our mission to provide high quality and exciting motorsports activities and products to a rapidly growing market of club drivers and racers, the club quickly grew into a thriving organization with thousands of members. Our attention to the customer, management of the track day process, and willingness to change are continuing to grow the club at a rapid rate today.

January 6, 2012: NCRC Guest Program

We are kicking off a "Guest Program" for 2012. This program will provide five entries (open track or race) at any of our Thunderhill events at no cost to frequent drivers that have not run with NCRC before. We feel strongly that our events are second to none, regardless of pricing. This program is designed for you, the experienced driver, to judge for yourself. Use this link to determine which events have available guest program spots (look for the "Guest" button) and to apply for one of them.

October, 2011: Event Breakdown Insurance

NCRC is pleased to offer event breakdown insurance to our members in our continuing customer service quest. Here's how it works. When you register for the event, you can purchase this insurance, which will cost about 20% of the track day. If your car has a mechanical breakdown at the track, you only need to notify us of the incident, demonstrate that the incident renders the car no longer driveable or safe, and we will refund you for the remaining sessions you will miss that day.

This insurance only covers the expense of the event registration itself, not the repair cost of your car or other incidentals (instruction, timing, hotels, travel costs, etc). If you keep driving, in the broken car or a second car, the insurance doesn't apply. Insurance must be purchased at least 48 hours before the event. Racers may not participate in this program.

April 2011: NCRC Sponsors Hamburger

For the 2011/12 season, NCRC has sponsored the hamburger at the Thunderhill Grill. It's a great burger, so when you stop by for lunch, order the "NCRC Burger"!

June 30, 2011: New Feature "My NCRC"

Ever wonder when your membership will expire, or what address we have on file for you? Quite a few folks have asked over the years, and we finally have a solution. My NCRC will let you do a quick lookup by your email address, and let you submit updates to key information in our database.

[4:15:11] NCRC Introduces the Chrono Series

With the Chrono Series, NCRC is re-formatting its Time Trial Series starting July 10th 2011. Chrono will provide a separate run group for a more exciting driving series much closer to a race format, and a "framework" for marque-specific time trial/challenge groups. Drivers will be racing against the clock to set their best lap time (Chrono being Greek for "time") for the day, within the boundaries of key safety rules.

The series will be run at the Thunderhill, Laguna Seca and Buttonwillow racetracks.

Season winners will be determined by selecting the best five Chrono finishes for each driver for the season. Drivers who participate in more than five Chrono events will have an opportunity to improve their scores, drivers who participate in fewer than five events will have fewer opportunities for season points.

Safety Update

March 7, 2011: NCRC expands Safety Equipment Reimbursements to non-NCRC events

NCRC has created a fund to financially contribute to the purchase of convertible safety equipment for open track drivers participating in non-NCRC events at Laguna Seca, Thunderhill, Infineon or Reno-Fernley. This program is separate and additional to the program currently in place for NCRC drivers.

To take advantage of this new program, drivers must register by filling out a Safety Equipment Reimbursement Form, and provide "proof of entry" receipts for the events in which they participate. NCRC will give a $10 cash reimbursement for each event.

May 10, 2010: Have NCRC help pay for your safety equipment!

Not only does NCRC provide its drivers with some of the most cost-effective track days, but today we’re making another industry-first move to demonstrate that safety continues to be our top priority. We will help pay for the upgrades necessary to pass the broomstick test in your convertible and be safer on the track.

Here’s how it works:

  1. Purchase and install your rollbar and/or seat lowering kit.
  2. Send us your receipts for parts and labor (must be dated after May 10, 2010).
  3. We’ll discount every event (consecutive days are considered one event) you attend with us by $50 for the next two years, or until we’ve paid half of the upgrade cost.
  4. We'll even pay you $10 for attending another club's event!

Recently we’ve seen a fair bit of “fudging” from drivers on the broomstick test, which up to now has been self-administered. We’re checking convertibles with the broomstick at every event, and drivers that do not pass the test will not be allowed on the track. No refunds will be given for failure to pass the broomstick test.

Complete this form to register to receive your safety equipment reimbursements

* NCRC will pay up to $500 toward equipment and installation costs. Offer is open to any convertible car which does not pass the broomstick test.
