NCRC TECHNICAL INSPECTION FORM
Technical Inspection to be performed a maximum of thirty days prior to the event. The owner may do the inspection , or have a qualified mechanic perform it. Bring the completed form to the event registration.

Inspector: Evaluate car for suitability for high-speed driving and maneuvering on a race track. Evaluation to include, but not limited to inspection of at least the items shown below. Enter in block if item passes, if item fails. With the possible exception of brake pad/shoes, inspection should be done to extent possible by visual examination without disassembly.

Tire wear above tread markers, correct speed rating

Wheels must have no sign of cracks or structural damage
Over 1/2 thickness on brake pads/shoes

Battery bolted down with 2 bolts

Catch container on radiator overflow
Throttle has quick, positive return
Body has no loose panels, dangerous protrusions, or dangerous rust
Sunroofs must be closed or removed
At least one rear-view mirror must be present
Intake/exhaust sound limits met8

Notes

  1. Loose objects include handheld cameras (must have correct mount and safety strap), cell phones, radar detectors, tools, spare tire, jack, etc and cannot be in cab, trunk, clove box, etc
  2. Open cars include convertibles, purpose-built race cars without tops, roadsters, etc. Legal rollbars include SCCA-approved bars as well as NHRA bars. Factory "hoops" or "pop-ups" behind seats in convertibles must meet broomstick test Decorative bars are not approved.
  3. Faster cars should consider full fire-retardant driving suits; all drivers should strongly consider driving gloves and shoes.
  4. Legal helmets include Snell SA00, M00, K00, SA2000, M2000. Helmets showing damage or missing a Snell sticker or 'shorty helmets'  will not be approved After 1/1/07 pre-2000 helmets will not be allowed
  5. Drivers must be aware of, and meet track-specific rules on mufflers and sound levels
  6. Typical lug nut tightness is 75-95ft-lbs, check with your wheel manufacturer for specs
  7. Minimal hairline cracks in rotors are normal, but should not open or extend to the edge of the rotor
  8. Sound limits 103db at Infineon and Thunderhill, 90-92 at Laguna (depending on particular day)
